Choices

Many adults and students think this book's theme deals with choices...both good and bad. Do you agree? What were some of Steve's choices? Were there events that he couldn't control? (i.e. Were their times when he didn't have a choice?) Is this an important theme to you right now?

I agree that there were a lot of choices for Steve in this book. He had the choice of telling the truth or lying on the stand. In my opinion there were no events that he could control, because he didn't know and was not able to predict the events that were going to happen.

Everyone always has a choice, and this is a very important value in life. But Steve was in a higher problem than most people his age. When you have that much to think about, its kind of difficult to try and do things yourself, so thats why 'O Brien was his lawyer (to guide him the correct way). So he *in a way* did not have much room for choices to make. Therefore, I dont think he really had much of a choice throughout the whole book.

This book seems that are a lot of choices between good and bad, but some of those choices are controlled...even though they may seem to be very difficult to control.

I believe there was a lot of choices that Steve had to make in the book. He had to choose between telling the truth on lying. I believe there were not any choices that Steve could control.

I agree that there were choices that he made. But i also believe that he coulf control his choices. The one thing we have when everything else is taken away is choice.

there were many choices in the book that Steve had to make like when he had to give them the signal to rob the store.then he had to go to court and be afraid of jail.
